Israel in Support of 1c
The State of Israel believes that Palestinians do not have the right to return to Israel, due to lack of space, religious differences, and the threat of Palestinian revolt. Whereas Palestinians have occupied Israel in the past, Jerusalem and the land of Israel has an extreme amount of religious value to Israeli Judaists; granting refugees the right of return would overpower the Jewish orientation of Israel, leading to more conflict. Palestinian refugees are mostly Sunni Islam, about 23% of the world’s population are Muslims, while ~.3% are Jewish. According to the Pew Research Center in 2010 there were 49 Muslim-majority countries, and Israel is the only Judaist country. Following the Holocaust in Europe, after ~
Refugees cannot return to Israel for numerous reasons, one being the threat it would pose on the main principle of Israel- Judaism. There are approximately 7.8 million Israeli citizens, and about 5 million refugees, if refugees are granted right to return, it will threaten the Jewish-Majority of the only Jewish-Majority country. After the Holocaust, is it fair, to once again, declare the Jewish religion inferior, to the Palestinians? Is it fair that the Judaist religion will once again be threatened for the sake of others? We take into consideration that Israelis have uprooted Palestinians from their religious homeland in order to claim their own, however this was their last option, after being put into death camps and having no rights, what else could they have done in order to protect their religion? Some may say that they could have tried to further more resolve issues in Europe, however the only thing they felt could sooth their pain was returning to their religious homeland, they had nowhere else to turn. There was no Jewish-Majority country they could turn to, unlike the Palestinian Refugees who are majority Sunni Islam, there are 49 Muslim-Majority countries that should be able to welcome their brothers back to where they belong.
About 23% of the world’s population is Muslims, while only ~0.3% are Jewish. If Israel possessed more land, and retained adequate space for peaceful Palestinian Refugees willing to live under a Jewish government, Israel would be open to the idea of allowing Palestinians to become Israeli citizens. It is because Israel cannot accept a 64% population increase that it can’t accept the Refugees. Israel willnot and cannot allow their country or their religion to be threatened. We regret the fact rights are being taken away from refugees, however that does not outweigh the fact we can no longer stand to be degraded and discriminated against because of our religion. We must fight because we are the minority.
